Students Technology Quick Start Guide
Follow these steps to get started with the technology resources at Forsyth Tech
1. TechID Account
Note: If you received an email from studentonboarding@forsythtech.edu, please refer to the following KB guide for instructions.
If you have given Forsyth Tech your personal email address, you should receive an email from no-reply@forsythtech.edu with instructions on how to get logged in.
Note: If you do not have an email or you cannot get a code sent to your personal email, you can follow the following guide for your initial login: https://its.forsythtech.edu/support/solutions/articles/10000008248
Password Setup
1.Go to Microsoft's password reset tool (https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/).
2. In the "Who are you?" section, enter your Forsyth Tech email address.

3. Click "Next", then on the "verification step 1" screen select "Email my alternate email" and verify the email listed on the screen (this should be the same email address that received the "Setup your Forsyth Tech TechID!" email).

After you click "Email" you will receive a 6 digit code to your personal email. Enter that code as seen below:

4. After you enter the code, you will create your new password. Your new password must follow these rules:
- Be at least 8 characters long
- Not contain your account name or more than two consecutive characters of your full name
- Include characters from three of the following categories:
1. Uppercase letters (A-Z)
2. Lowercase letters (a-z)
3. Numbers (0-9)
4. Special characters (! @ # $)

After setting your password, you should see the following message:

NOTE: Only one password reset is allowed every 24 hours. Subsequent attempts will not succeed. Call the ITS Helpdesk at (743) 249-8694 to bypass this policy.
Passwords are valid for 180 days and are used for all Wake Tech applications.
After setting your password, you will need to setup your multifactor authentication settings. Please refer to the following MFA guide:
2. Techlink
Using Techlink gives you access to campus information, campus events, financial information, class schedule, student email, and much more.

3. Student Email & Office 365
Students at Forsyth Tech have access to student email through Office 365. It is expected that students will check their email account regularly. Note: Login with your TechID and TechID Password.
1. Access student email directly @ https://outlook.office.com/mail/inbox

2. Download your free copy of Microsoft Office 365 - Click here for instructions.

4. MyForsythTech
In MyForsythTech you can view your finance information, access financial aid data, plan your semester & much more!

5. Navigate Forsyth Tech

Navigate Forsyth Tech is an online platform and app specifically created for you, the college student.
- Stay updated on approaching deadlines
- Be reminded of critical tasks each semester
- Learn about resources available to you
- Find out when events are happening
- Schedule an appointment with your advisor or tutor

6. TechAlerts
TechAlerts will notify you in the event of campus closings, emergency situation, campus events, or important reminders. Faculty, staff, and curriculum students will be automatically enrolled in the TechAlert system. Please visit your profile to verify your mobile phone number and email address is correct.
- Visit https://www.getrave.com/login/forsythtech
- Select the My Account tab, if not already selected.
- Within the Mobile Phones or Email sections, select the Add button to enter additional contact methods to your profile.
- Select the Edit button (pen and paper icon) to make changes to any contact information already in the system.
- Select the red X next to any contact information that should no longer be listed in the alerts system.

7. Technology Resources
While visiting Forsyth Tech’s various campuses, students may take advantage of our open computer labs, where computers are offered for student use.
There are open computer labs in the following locations:

Students are also encouraged to seek technical assistance via our ITS Support Walk-in located on Main Campus in Allman 106.
Get in-person assistance at our ITS Support Center Walk-in with the following:

- Connecting to campus WiFi
- Office 365 installation & support
