Respondus How-To Video Resource
Respondence Monitor and Lockdown Browser are tools designed to secure online exams. Respondence Monitor records students via webcam during the exam, while Lockdown Browser prevents access to other websites or applications.
To set them up in Blackboard, log in to your course and navigate to the "Books and Tools" section. Click on the "Respondence Lockdown Browser Dashboard" option. Here, you'll see a list of assignments where you can enable Respondence and Lockdown Browser. By selecting an assignment and clicking on the settings button, you can choose to require either or both tools for the exam.
Advanced settings allow customization, such as granting access to specific sites or tools like calculators, and enabling proctoring features such as face detection. Once set, click "Save and Close" to apply the settings. You can modify these settings later by clicking on the assignment's arrow and selecting "Settings."
Additional options include "Class Results," which shows student completion and flagged abnormalities, and "Exam Stats," which provides performance data.
For best practices, create a practice test using Respondence to help students familiarize themselves with the tools, and always communicate exam requirements clearly to ensure a smooth experience for students.
